• It was discovered on August 9, 1989 by Caltech astronomer Eleanor F. Helin
• Imaging done by Arecibo using radio astronomy and computer modeling at a distance of ~5.6 million miles
• Double-lobed with each lobe approximately 0.5 mile in diameter
