The Active Sun
This image shows the demise of a helmet streamer which is known as
a coronal eruption. Up to 10^13 kg of coronal material maybe ejected at speeds
of 1000 km/s. The image was taken by the High Altitude Observatory, NCAR,
Boulder, Colorado.
