Total Eclipse vs. Annular Eclipse
- The Sun is roughly 400 times the diameter of the Moon but it is
also 400 times further away from the Moon than we are.
- So from the surface of the Earth the apparent sizes of the Sun and Moon
are very nearly the same,
But due to the Moon's Elliptical Orbit, two types
of Solar Eclipses can be observed:
- Annular Eclipse
- Total Eclipse
- Annular Eclipses
- When the Moon is further away from the Earth.
- Total Eclipses
- When the Moon is closer to the Earth.
